Penzance will hope to sign off on a highly satisfactory campaign with a third straight victory when Truro City Reserves visit Penlee Park tonight for a Kitchen Kit South West Peninsula League fixture (kick off 7.45pm).
The Magpies will be missing Tyler Tonkin, the captain having suffered a shoulder injury at Bodmin on Saturday. But they welcome back Charlie Willis and Jacob Trudgeon who, in Tonkin’s absence, will finish the season as outright top scorer if he finds the net. Right-back Archie Reynolds is in line to complete a second consecutive season as ever-present in league fixtures. Also named in the squad are Will Trenoweth, Mark Vercesi, Liam Andrew, Alfie Turner, James Butler, Ollie Butler, Darryl Richards, Gareth Ireson-Ward, Michael Fitchett, Adam Lewis, Ewan Trevains, Silas Sullivan, Charlie Palmer and Tom Jacobson
The match is in fact City’s home fixture. Wiped out on Good Friday by the Easter monsoon, the game has been switched from Tregye to Penlee Park to ease Truro’s fixture congestion – they still have another four games to fulfil after tonight, and ground share with Perranwell. It is Truro’s third visit of the season. In September they came from 2-0 down to knock the Magpies out of the Walter C Parson Cup. But Tonkin’s hat-trick eased Penzance to a 3-0 Boxing Day revenge in the league.
For tonight’s return, City boss John Fabby has named his squad as Morgan Jones, Ben Shaw, Dan Carne, Eagan Fabby, Fin Harrison, Gabe Turpin, Harvey Frape, Jamie Edlin, Jordan Moyle, Josh Marcelis, Liam Higgins, Owen Rosevear, Owen Royes, Reuben Chant, Taylor McNally, Teddy Horton and Toby Burt.
Admission is £5 (concessions £3) and the gates open at around 6.45pm. Drinks and refreshments, including hot pasties, will be available from the Black & White Cafe inside the ground. The matchday programme – the Magpie Review – will also be on sale for £1.50.
