WEATHER BEATEN

The Penlee Park ground staff have again worked miracles, and the pitch has been passed as fit for Penzance to welcome Bude Town in a Kitchen Kit South West Peninsula League fixture this afternoon (kick-off 3pm).

The match should be an interesting one with just two positions and three points separating the teams. “Bude are a side who have quality all over the pitch and, although they are only two places above us in the league, I class them as one of the hardest fixtures,” says Ashley Waters. The Magpies manager has named his sixteen man squad as goalkeeper Will Trenoweth (who is back from holiday), Mikey Flores, Archie Reynolds, Liam Andrew, Tyler Tonkin, Mark Vercesi, Frazer Cadman, James Butler, Silas Sullivan, Charlie Willis, Kam Collins, Ollie Butler, Jacob Trudgeon, Rolandos Samnauskas, Ryan Andrew and Dylan Walter.

Bude Town did the double over Penzance last season on their way to an excellent fifth place in their first campaign back at Step Six after promotion from the St Piran League. They have found things a little tougher this time round though, and have named a squad comprising of Liam Hill, Jake Williams, James Dart, Scott Saunders, Harry Hopcroft, Ryan Keates, Mitch McCann, Billy Hopcroft, Gary Clarke, Carlo Chandler, Morgan Cullen, Tyler Yendle, Ben Potter, Natan Parulski and Alper Eroglu,

Admission is £5 (concessions £3) and drinks and refreshments, including hot pasties, will be available from the Black & White Cafe inside the ground.

The Jewson Bar will be open from lunchtime, and a full edition of the Magpies Review will be on sale for £1.50. Lots of other local games could be off, so head on down to Penlee Park for your weekend sporting fix.
