BATTLE FOR THE BOYNE CUP 2024



After the huge success of last year’s event, friends of Dean Mooney are again staging a charity match to raise vital funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association. The former Penzance captain has been bravely battling MND for the past two years, and the match will be staged at Hayle’s Trevassack Ground on Saturday May 4th,kick-off 3pm.


Along with a host of ex-Penzance players, current Magpies Liam and Ryan Andrew will feature, though on opposing teams. Liam is in the Orange squad managed Allen Spencer-Smith (Allen’s No Legs Eleven Squad) which also includes Paul Williams, Toby Cape, James Street, Will Southcott, Tom Dann, Matt Davies, Rob Johns, Jowan May, Simon Carter, Mark Rapsey, Lewis Caspall, Adam Northall, Lee Norman, Kevin Hall, John McCallum, Gary Matthews, Gerens James and Graham Stirr.


Ryan, meanwhile, will play for Perry Bullocks Purple team (Perry’s Two Knees or Not Two Knees) along with Steve Luke, Davy Cheal, Andy James, Callum George, Liam Quinn, John Matthews, Ash Matthews, Dom Pullen, Christian Lett, Mike Shilton, Zack Williams, Sulli Gardner, Matt Shiels, Adam May, Alan Roberts, Fred Allen, Shane Webber and Adam Palmer.

As well as the main match, there will be live entertainment throughout the day with an acoustic set and DJ Robin Curtis. Loaded Cornwall will be keeping everyone fed, and Sport in Cornwall by Steve Winters Photography will be capturing the event. MND Association Cornwall Branch Group will also be there, and there will be a Mini tournament showcasing some of the future Cornish football legends with the under-7s taking center stage!


Along with a raffle and a fully stocked bar what more could you want! Come along and have a beer and some food, and share your footballing stories from over the years.
