Penzance play their final home match of the season when high-flying Liskeard Athletic visit Penlee Park this afternoon. Don’t be deceived by the earlier than usual 2pm kick-off!
Despite the disappointment of having missed out on the title and promotion to the Toolstation Western League, the Blues have been in splendid form recently plundering fifteen goals in their last two matches alone. “Liskeard looked a class outfit when we recently played at Lux Park and for me were the best attacking side we’ve played this season,” says Magpies joint manager John McCallum.
The Blues, who face Penzance’s conquerors Newton Abbot Spurs in the semi-finals of the WC Parson Cup on Wednesday, will select their side from Luke Gwillam, Sam Borthwick, Harvey Mullis, Matt Outtram, Jack Podmore, Dylan Peel, Maauley Thorp, Max Gilbert, James Lorenz, James Rowe, Jarrad Woods, Ben Collins, Dan Jennings, Sam Hill and Harry Jeffery.
McCallum and co-managers Adrian Ferrell and Craig Nicholls have bolstered their ranks with a number of players who have excelled for the Reserves in recent weeks. Promoted to the first team for the first time are keeper Adrian Murley and left-back Lewis Hitchens. They are joined in an initial seventeen man squad by Will Trenoweth, Archie Reynolds, Liam Andrew, Mark Vercesi, Cam McCabe, Silas Sullivan, Tyler Tonkin, Kam Collins, Kevin Lawrence, Frazer Cadman, Jacob Trudgeon, Rolandos Samnauskas, Robertas Samnauskas, Kai Baxter and Kizzy Snowden.
Admission is just £5 (£3 for concessions) and drinks and refreshments, including hot pasties, will be available from the Jewson Bar and tea hut. A full printed matchday programme will be on sale in the bar from lunchtime, and at the gate and tea hut.
End-of-season drinks will be enjoyed afterwards with live music provided by local legend Dan Tolch from 4pm.
See you there!
