Hayden Waters took just 22 seconds to bag his first goal, and less than fifteen minutes to complete a statement hat-trick, as Penzance sealed third place in Division One West with a rip snorting performance at Wendron writes James Wright.
Returning to Underlane for the second time in four days, and third in a fortnight, Daz Smith’s side tore into hosts Camborne School of Mines from kick-off. A tenacious raid down the right by Victor Mullaly set up the first – a close range, near post prod that found its way in via a deflection. Asa Donaldson then wriggled clear down opposite flank, threading a pass inside from which Waters clipped a delightful shot into the top right hand corner. The teenager then skipped around keeper Pedro Silva before slotting home from a narrowing angle to complete his treble.

Penzance Reserves secure third place thanks largely to an early hat trick from Hayden Waters. Kizzy Snowden scored twice including a pen and sublime dipping volley.
An identical goal seemed on the cards in the 61st minute when Waters again appeared to have rounded the custodian. This time though, he had his ankles clipped, and Kizzie Snowden stepped up to ram the resultant penalty low and hard to Silva’s right.
The goal of the game arrived with just three minutes remaining. Mark Sands started the move with a through pass to Waters on the left. The latter switched play to the right where Snowden flicked the ball up before arcing a dipping volley over Silva from fully 25 yards out.

There was still time for Camborne School of Mines to reduce the deficit by a couple of goals. Oscar Donaldson got behind the Penzance back line and drew Harvey Parsons before slotting home a crisp low shot. Dylan Swan then cushioned a tidy volley just inside the young keeper’s far post, but it detracted little from another impressive performance from a side now unbeaten in eight games.
“We are buzzing with such a dominant display tonight”, beamed Magpies Head Coach Henry Ramsay. “Securing third place is such a showcase of our hard work, double our points tally from last year, and from tenth to third is such an improvement. It’s all credit to the boys, so proud of them.”
