COMPETITIVE FOOTBALL RETURNS TO PENLEE PARK TONIGHT


This evening Penzance will contest a first home Kitchen Kit Peninsula League fixture of the season when Mullion travel around Mounts Bay for what should be an intriguing match-up (kick-off 7.30pm).


This season is already uncannily resembling last. Twelve months ago, the Magpies performed well in a two goal defeat away to one on the title favourites on the opening day as Mullion enjoyed a stonking 4-1 home win before heading to Penlee Park in midweek. Penzance will hope the parallels end there. On that occasion, the visitors triumphed 3-1 to continue an impressive start after promotion from the St Piran League.


Their win at the weekend, against Sticker, came courtesy of braces from Brodie Kemp and Phil Cattran. Manager Rob Carey names both scorers, and himself, in an initial squad that also includes Toby Fletcher, Jordon Lugg, Chris Wormington, Dan Greet, Luke Hunter, Lee Pawley, Harry Roberts, Josh Sims, Ben Matthews, Jack Green, George Molcher, Jack Noy, Joe Lugg, Connor Bowman, Kyle Woodhouse and Jamie Greet.


With Mark Vercesi back from holiday and cricketers Will Trenoweth, Kam Collins and Michael Fitchett available in midweek, Penzance are a full strength. The afore-mentioned quartet, and Reserve team youngsters Freddie Neaum and Lewis Hitchens, are in a provisional squad that also includes Mikey Flores, Archie Reynolds, Tyler Tonkin, Alfie Turner, Silas Sullivan, Frazer Cadman, Kevin Lawrence, Alfie Hicks, Rolandos Samnauskas, Oscar Massey, Jacob Trudgeon and Dylan Walter.
