Penzance play their first Cup match of the season when they welcome newly promoted Truro City Reserves to Penlee Park tonight (kick-off 7.30pm) in the First Round of the WC Parson Cup.
The visitors have been promoted back to the South West Peninsula League this summer as champions of the West division of the St Piran League and will provide very tough opposition. Manager John Fabby has named a squad comprising of: Morgan Jones, Piran Jones, Jamie Edlin, Lawson Turpin, Damon Mulready, Jack Carron, Josh Turner, Josh Marcelis, Teddy Horton, Taylor McNally, Oscar Marks, Ben Shaw, Fin Harrison, Regan Hull, Dan Carne, Ollie Paterson, Tom Dolan, Fred Veale, Gabe Turpin and Matty Walker.
Ever-present in League fixtures for over a year, Penzance right-back Archie Reynolds misses his first game since the tie away to Newton Abbot Spurs in this same competition back in December. Goalkeeper Mikey Flores is rested, captain Tyler Tonkin working abroad and Frazer Cadman on holiday, so Will Trenoweth, Dylan Walter, Lewis Hitchens and Kam Collins re-join a squad that also includes Gary Matthews, Mark Vercesi, Silas Sullivan, Alfie Turner, Kevin Lawrence, Charlie Willis, Rolandos Samnauskas, Oscar Massey, Jacob Trudgeon, Ollie Butler and Michael Fitchett.
Tonight’s tie is one of only two in the First Round with thirty teams receiving byes. It will be played to a finish with extra-time penalties to be used, if necessary. The winners will travel to Callington Town in the Second Round on Saturday 14th October.
Our Season Tickets are valid for Cup ties. If you pay on the gate, admission is £5 (concessions £3). Drinks and refreshments, including hot pasties, will be available from the Black & White Cafe inside the ground, and the Jewson Bar. A full matchday programme with be available for £1.50.
