Penlee Park will stage a festive derby today when Truro City Reserves visit for a Kitchen Kit South West Peninsula League fixture. Don’t be deceived by the earlier than usual kick-off time of 12 noon.
Penzance will be looking for revenge over City for a 2-4 defeat in the First Round of the Walter C Parson Cup back in September. They will have to do so without Liam Andrew following the centre-back’s injury against St Austell last time out. However, Mark Vercesi, James Butler and Charlie Willis all return after missing that defeat ten days ago. Manager Ashley Waters has also named in his squad Will Trenoweth, Archie Reynolds, Tyler Tonkin, Silas Sullivan, Alfie Turner, Ollie Butler, Kam Collins, Darryl Richards, Michael Fitchett, Jacob Trudgeon, Rolandos Samnauskas, Dylan Walter, Lewis Hitchens and Freddie Neaum.
City are playing their first League fixture at Penlee Park since winning promotion as St Piran West champions last summer. Former Magpie Josh Turner features in a squad named by John Fabby that also includes Dan Carne, Jack Carron, Reuben Chant, Jamie Edlin, Eagan Fabby, Fin Harrison, Cameron Hirst, Teddy Horton, Rob Hosking, Morgan Jones, Josh Marcelis, Taylor Mcnally, Owen Rosevear, Ben Shaw, James Taylor, Lawson Turpin, Gabe Turpin, Paul Turpin, Freddie Veale and Matty Walker.
Admission is £5 (concessions £3) and the gates open at around 11.15am. Drinks and refreshments, including hot pasties, will be available from the Black & White Cafe inside the ground.
The Jewson Bar is open from about 11am and on sale within is an attractive range of new club merchandise – pop in to have a look. A printed matchday programme – the Magpie Review – will also be on sale.
See you down there!
