MAGPIES AIM TO CONTINUE GOOD RUN

Penzance will be looking to build momentum from the impressive cup victory over St Dennis when they welcome old rivals Bodmin Town to Penlee Park this afternoon (3pm kick-off).

“Tuesday’s wonderful progression into the quarter finals of the Cornwall Senior Cup gives us something to look forward to, but let's now get focused on the points available today”, says Co-Manager John McCallum. “We’ve come a long way in a short space of time and, with a strong desire, a fantastic team spirit and a willing eagerness to work hard amongst all the players, I’m sure we can continue our terrific improvement.”

Captain Tyler Tonkin returns after a three match absence and is joined by new signing from Hayle, teenager Alfie Hicks, in a sixteen man squad that also includes Will Trenoweth, Archie Reynolds, Cam McCabe, Liam Andrew, Mark Vercesi, Silas Sullivan, Kevin Lawrence, Max Everard, Kam Collins, Darryl Richards, Jacob Trudgeon, Haidar Fadli, Rolandos Samnauskas and Ryan Andrew.

After an uncharacteristically sluggish start to the season, Bodmin Town have improved dramatically since appointing former Saltash United manager Dane Bunney to the Priory Park hot-seat. New signing from Wadebridge, central midfielder Rob Rosevear is unavailable through injury, so Bunney will name his side from: Ethan Elwell, Anthony Davey, James Forrest, Paul Adam, Sam Hepworth, Lee Rundle, Oliver Miller, Ruben Kane, Dave Trott, Adam Beardsmore, Dan Tate, Lyle Johnson, Ogwu Fidelis, Danny Zalick, Kyle Marks, James McNary, Joe Munday and Christian Moss.

Bodmin won twice at Penlee Park last season, in the league and county cup, and sit two places and three points above Penzance. However, a win would propel the Magpies above them on goal difference, so an exciting afternoon is in prospect.

Admission is just £5 (£3 for concessions) and drinks and refreshments, including hot pasties, will be available from the bar (which will be open around 1.30pm) and tea hut. A full printed matchday programme will be on sale for £1.50.

The game will also be streamed on our Facebook page from 3pm.

Our very popular streams are sponsored by Antony Handyman and Ashley Waters - Painter & Decorator.
