MAGPIES CHASE DOUBLE

Penzance will be looking to notch a first league double of the season when Newquay visit Penlee Park this afternoon (3pm kick-off).

Kizzie Snowden fired the Magpies to a memorable win when the sides met at Mount Wise back in late August, ending a losing streak of over twenty games. However, since then the Peppermints have put together an impressive run of form that has propelled them up to sixth in the table and the fringe of the promotion race.

As he did for Wednesday’s unlucky defeat at new leaders Wendron United, Silas Sullivan will deputise as captain for Tyler Tonkin who is recovering from a dislocated shoulder. Jordan Daniell is still away up country, but Mark Vercesi returns after completing a three match ban for the dismissal against St Blazey. The Penzance management have therefore announced a squad of: Will Trenoweth, Archie Reynolds, Cam McCabe, Liam Andrew, Mark Vercesi, Silas Sullivan, Kevin Lawrence, Max Everard, Kam Collins, Darryl Richards, Jacob Trudgeon, Haidar Fadli, Rolandos Samnauskas, Obinna Abuka and Robertas Samnauskas.

For Newquay, who won in midweek at home to St Dennis, manager Craig Ainslie will select from: Harry Ashton, Ashley Bradshaw, Nick Boase, Scott Flannigan, Harry Lampier, Bradley Leivers, Jake Shaw, Tom Whipp, captain Ross Fallens, Rhys Hooper, Noah Teagle, Cameron Turner, Connor Wharton, Jared Simms, Alex Cole and Harry Salmon.

Admission is just £5 (£3 for concessions) and drinks and refreshments will be available from both the bar (which will be open around 1.30pm) and tea hut. A full printed matchday programme will be on sale for £1.50.

See you down there for what promises to be a cracker!
