After pushing league leaders Wendron United so close in the quarter-finals of the Cornwall Senior Cup in front of a season’s best crowd, Penzance return to league action when Dobwalls visit Penlee Park this afternoon (3pm kick-off).
With the past ten weeks having been largely sacrificed to Cup football and poor weather, the Magpies will be looking to pick up their first points since beating Bodmin in early November.
The task is made harder by the absence of Mark Vercesi, Max Everard, Darryl Richards and Kizzy Snowden who are all unavailable, but two youngsters are promoted from the Reserves to ensure managers John McCallum, Adrian Ferrell and Craig Nicholls have a full squad at their disposal. They are forward Haidar Fadli, who featured intermittently for the firsts earlier in the season before succumbing to injury, and midfielder Kai Baxter. The remainder of the squad is: Will Trenoweth, Archie Reynolds, Liam Andrew, Ryan Andrew, Tyler Tonkin (captain), Cam McCabe, Silas Sullivan, Jordan Daniell, Kam Collins, Kevin Lawrence, Jacob Trudgeon, Robertas Samnauskas, Rolandos Samnauskas, Nathaniel West and Alfie Hicks.
Dobwalls came from behind to beat Penzance 2-1 in a close match at Lantoom Park earlier in the season. They currently sit in an impressive sixth place, on the fringe of the promotion race, and will prove a very tough nut to crack.
Admission is just £5 (£3 for concessions) and drinks and refreshments, including hot pasties, will be available from the Jewson Bar (open around 12.30pm) and tea hut.
A full printed matchday programme will be on sale in the bar from lunchtime, and at the gate and tea hut for £1.50.
