NEW INN TITANS 2, PENZANCE RESERVES 1

Writer: Penzance AFCPenzance AFC

Yesterday we travelled to undefeated New Inn Titan's in our league match (writes joint Penzance Reserves manager Daz Smith).

Unfortunately it was a game that we will put to one side as it didn't quite go to plan.

With Dylan Walter and Lewis Hitchens both opting to represent the Reserves, we headed to New Inn with a strong team.

However on twenty minutes Sam Payne was forced off with a rolled ankle meaning returning from injury skipper Payno was called upon to step into central midfield. Shortly after a lucky break saw the New Inn centre forward pop up in the box and give the home side a one nil lead.

1-0

With the majority of the game being battled out in the middle of the park, a clearance saw New Inns keeper and centre back let the ball drop on the edge of their box as Dylan pounced to grab the equaliser on 30 minutes.

1-1

Halftime

Halftime was a reminder to the players that we have been in this situation before and to try and shorten the game up. But ultimately keep battling and we felt we would get chances...

The second half started in much the same fashion as the first half. Very stop start, with tackles flying in, in a physical battle largely played out in the midfield area.

A clearance off the line from Matt Robinson at our end was New Inns best chance before New Inns keeper saved well from a Kizzy thunderbolt at their end.

With approximately 15 minutes left to play , a pull back cross from Kizzy found Tyler in the box, however he couldn't quite control the finish and saw his effort rebound off the bar and out if play.

Two minutes later Tyler again raced clear and saw his left foot effort narrowly roll wide of the far post.

And with that, New Inns tails lifted and again reclaimed the lead after a break away attack, as the centre forward slotted home beating an onrushing Harvie sealing the win for New Inn.

2-1

Late injuries for Reevesy (ankle) and Kizzy (knee) saw us again come up short against a resilient New Inn as the final whistle blew.

Ft. 2-1

Yesterday by our own admission, we weren't good enough against a team that you all need to be.

We were pretty average and left feeling frustrated with ourselves. That being said we felt we pushed New Inn whilst not being anywhere near our best.

We did have chances at 1-1 to take the lead and on another day it could have been different. But ultimately we had too many average performances and that was our downfall in the end.

There was one real positive in the performance yesterday however in the shape of Dylan Walter. A clear 9/10 and a real thorn in the New Inn side all game. Dylan thrived in yesterdays game and was a level above. Calm and composed on the ball, he battled well and got a well deserved goal! So yesterdays man of the match goes to Dylan!

Well done.
