Penzance AFC Youth - Latest News Feb 2026

Just two youth matches survived the weather last weekend, both played at Newlyn Coombe on Sunday morning and both yielding Penzance wins. The Under-9 Lynxes were victorious against East Wheal Rose with Violet named Player of the Match. Meanwhile the Jaguars, for whom Ethan was Player of the Match, beat Truro City.

On Wednesday night the Under-18s had hoped to complete their first game of 2026, but opponents St Day were unable to raise a side. “We will take the points, but we would much rather be playing,” says frustrated manager Justin Stephens. “We are just desperate to get playing again as we have Newquay twice and and we haven’t played since mid-December. We need to be ready for a couple of huge tests coming up.”

This Sunday (February 22) three teams are in action. The Under-8 Tigers and Under-11 Cosmos both have home matches at the Coombe, against Hayle and Redruth United respectively. The Under-18s meanwhile will attempt to play the first of the consecutive Cups semi-finals against Newquay. After numerous postponements at St Columb Minor the tie has now been switched to Penzance - 2pm at Penlee Park. Newquay top the table and include players who feature in their Western League side, so it should be a cracker! A week later, on Sunday 1st March the sides are due to meet again in the CCFA Rathbone Trophy.
