Penzance AFC Youth Round-Up, 24th March

Only three of our youth teams were in action last weekend. The Under-7 Panthers and Under-9 Cosmos played away to East Wheal Rose and Hayle respectively, whilst the Under-11 Aliens entertained Illogan RBL.

This coming Sunday at Newlyn Coombe the Under-7 Panthers and Under-14 Appollos welcome their equivalent age groups from Illogan at 10am, with the Under-13 Titans taking on Probus at 11am. The Under-16 Comets have an away fixture, travelling Marazion to take on Mousehole Hawks at noon.

Logan Curnow and Levi Hilling, of our Under-16 Jets side, both represented Cornwall in recent fixtures against Devon at St Blazey and Somerset at Middlezoy. Hilling, who recently joined the Magpies from Illogan, was Man of the Match in the first game and then scored in the second – a 3-1 win. Both are again named in the Cornwall squad for this Sunday’s return fixture against Somerset – a 2pm kick-off at Sticker.

Finally, further vindication of the strength of the Penzance Youth set-up came last Saturday afternoon when two teenagers – Ewan Trevains of the Reserves and Daniel May from the Under-16 Jets - made their First Team debuts in the 1-1 draw with Camelford. May, son of former Magpie Jowan, becomes the fourth member of the Jets side to appear in the Peninsula League team this season, following Charlie Palmer, Dom Hodges and Ashley Mead.
