Penzance AFC Youth Round-Up, 25th

A number of our youth sides have been in action over the past fortnight. The Under-9 Cosmos had home games against Hayle two weeks ago, then Truro City last Sunday. The Under-11 Aliens took on Wendron on Newlyn Coombe on April 14th whilst, a week later, the Under-13 Titans went down 6-2 at Probus. The Under-14 Appollos played last Saturday, winning 3-1 at Falmouth Community Phoenix with two goals from Oliver Khandan. Ben Evered bagged the other.

At Under-16 level, the Comets have been very busy with three Championship West games in eight days. Home defeats to Illogan RBL (2-3) and Mousehole Flyers (0-3) were followed by an exciting 4-4 draw, again against Illogan. A week after a thumping 11-0 League Cup semi-final win at Wadebridge Town, Premiership joint leaders the Jets entertained title rivals Newquay Rangers in front of a large crowd at Penlee Park. Twice the visitors went ahead but, with a tidy first half finish then a second half header, Dom Hodges secured a valuable point for the young Magpies. The teams will meet again the League Cup final at Falmouth School in late May.

This Sunday, the Under-7 Panthers welcome St Agnes to the Coombe at 10am whilst the Under-9 Cosmos travel to Perranporth (11am at Ponsmere Valley). The Under-11 Aliens and Under-14 Appollos are at home to Falmouth Community Razorbills and Helston respectively (2.30pm and 11am kick-offs at Newlyn). Finally, the Under-18s travel to St Blazey (2pm kick-off).
