Ludgvan paid their second visit of pre-season to Penlee Park. After being beaten by Penzance’s first team a fortnight ago, the Hurlers fought out an entertaining draw with the Magpies Reserves on a rainy evening.
The home side could have been ahead inside two minutes, Kizzy Snowden cutting in from the left, but curling a shot just wide. However, it was the visitors who took an early lead, Josh Findlay finishing off a neat move by dipping a shot just inside Adrian Murley’s near post.
Penzance struck back in the 17th minute. Dylan Walter curled a splendid cross from wide on the left and Snowden headed home at the far post. The striker then got his second of the evening to put the Magpies ahead at the break, finishing a slick counter-attack started by left-back Lewis Hitchens by turning his marker and drilling home a low shot.
Ludgvan enjoyed a strong finish to the half and perhaps should have turned around level. But Penzance were back on the front foot after the restart. Jonathan Fitchett saved well from Tyler Smith, Freddie Neaum shot just over and Harvey Richings, shortly after coming off the bench, struck a post.
But it was the visitors who concluded the second half on top, as they had the first. Adrian Murley pulled off a couple of stupendous saves, but was wrong-footed when Chris Bullock connected with a cross from the right to give Ludgvan a deserved draw.
Penzance: Adrian Murley, Lewis Hitchens, Matt Robinson, Josh Reeves (Steve Miller 60), James Payne (Josh Whitburn 70), Joel Steel (Joe Lamb 70), Freddie Neaum (Andy Withers 70), Chaz Harry (James Payne 78), Kizzy Snowden, Tyler Smith (TJ Price 60), Dylan Walter (Harvey Richings 62)
