Pete Coombes brings us news of the first Disability Tournament of the new season.

We had our first official tournament at Mounts Bay Academy on 13th October for the new Premiership...

We started with a much weakened side and faced strong opposition against Saltash United, playing their first season in the competition. In our first match we played Saltash and went in at half-time 3-0 up thanks to a hat-trick from Connor Thomas, and ended up hanging on for a 3-2 win. Our second fixture against Dropship was abandoned after an injury to a Dropship player, and in our final match we beat St Agnes 4-1. Another three goal blast from Connor Thomas and an own-goal sealed the victory. Conor Allen performed heroics in goal standing between the sticks as we still don't have a recognized goalkeeper, and Lucas George played on despite an injury to keep five on the field. We had two players out in this match and I made a cameo appearance to bolster the numbers up towards the final stages.

So, with two wins out of two, the Magpies top the table ahead of Dropship on goal difference. Saltash lie third, three points above St Agnes who prop up the pile.

In the Championship we played four matches, winning one, drawing one and losing two. Again we played with a slightly weakened side as a couple of players moved up to the Premiership team. The competition for the Championship doesn't officially start until the next Tournament in November due to the possibility of new teams joining.

Penzance Disability are still looking for players at all levels, especially youth. If you are interested in giving it a try, or know anyone who does, please contact Pete Coombes on 07850 557577 (peter_coombes@yahoo.co.uk)
