READY, STEADY, GO !

Penzance return to playing action this evening – and will trot out in front of their own fans at Penlee Park for the first time since early April for a friendly against Falmouth Town Reserves.

It is just 94 days since Mark Gusterson’s clinical hat-trick for visiting Camelford grounded the Magpies on that Spring afternoon, but it seems like an eternity – a lot has been going on!

Most significantly of course, joint managers John McCallum and Adrian Ferrell have returned to the club having most recently been in charge of Mousehole’s Development side in the St Piran League.

The pair describe themselves as “buzzing” for the new season. “Pre-season is really good, everyone is working hard”, says McCallum. “Fitness coach Curtis Ferrell has done a great job with the conditioning of the players. We’ve got everything in place that we need behind the scenes so it is going to be good to see the players tonight getting in match situations, and have a good look at everyone.”

So what can we expect from our return to Penlee Park tonight?

SPRUCED UP FACILITIES: Volunteers have been hard at work at the ground all summer, and it is looking fabulous – check out the video on our Facebook page!

KICK-OFF: Tonight’s friendly starts a little earlier than a normal league fixture would. Don’t miss any of the action – be there for 7pm, sharp!

SQUAD: McCallum and Ferrell have announced a provisional squad of: Mikey Flores, Archie Reynolds, Cameron McCabe, Jordan Daniell, Ryan Andrew, Alfie Turner, Max Everard, Kevin Lawrence, Kam Collins, Tyler Tonkin, Silas Sullivan, Robertas Samnauskas, Kizzy Snowden, Darryl Richards, Jacob Trudgeon, Anthony Nicholas.

OPPOSITION: Falmouth Town are a club on the up having just achieved a League/Cornwall Senior Cup double, and accession to the Western League. Their Reserves have been regular visitors to Penlee Park to play our second string over the years in the Combo. Tonight Player-Manager Ryan Martt chooses his side from: Zach Telling, Kirk Davies, Byron Wood, Ryan Martt, Liam Davies, Sam Bromley, Jasper Turner, Jude Warr, Regan Hull, Fraser Harris, Ollie Henwood, Reggie May, Ethan Jorey, Jude Tripconey, Oli Pickup, Charlie Edney.

ADMISSION: To help cover costs, there will be a token entrance fee of £2 for adults and £1 for concessions.

MATCHDAY PROGRAMME: Having not been published since the first of the two Covid-abandoned seasons, the matchday programme is back by popular demand, reverting to its former title of “Magpie Review”. Tomorrow’s issue will cost just £1 – a pre-season warm-up for a meatier £1.50 issue that will be available once the campaign proper gets underway.

SEASON TICKETS:

Our much lauded Season Tickets, which admit the whole family, will be on sale before, during and after the match, and include entry to tonight’s game, and a host of other benefits. Visit our Match Tickets page (link at the bottom of this page) or email pzafcticketing@gmail.com for full details

FOOD AND DRINK:

Our full range of refreshments will be available. This includes, for the first time, craft beers from local brewery Cornish Crown.

The weather forecast looks great, so why not come and join us for the start of what we hope is an exciting new era for the club?
