ST DAY THIRDS 1, PENZANCE RESERVES 11

Sharp shooting and fine Fin-ishing.

Yesterday our lads hit the road as we travelled to St.Day in our return fixture having played them just two weeks ago (writes Penzance Reserves joint Manager, Daz Smith).

This time however new signing Harvie Paramore was ironically now in the Away changing rooms having signed as our new number 1, after representing St Day at Penlee two weeks ago whilst impressing both players and management respectively.

Matt "Duracell" Robinson partnered Reevesy, Steve and Lewis in the back line, as Tjay started at CDM. Sam and Fin were central midfielders with Dylan on the left , and Harvey on the right. Kizzy started up top.

Now, I'd love to break down every goal, but quite honestly , there were a lot and I can't remember them all. However, certain goals stand out. Fin Sharp, a product of the youth system got us to a flyer after approximately 5 mins, as he half volleyed a left foot effort into the far corner after an uncleared corner popped up in front of him.

St Day attempted to play a highline, however this appeared to play into our hands. Defensively we were comfortable and composed as we played the ball around seeking the right time to play forward. And it wasn't long before a through ball saw Kizzy race through and calmly slot home grabbing our second.

Fin was now thriving in midfield with the freedom to roam whilst being covered by the impressive Tjay, and quickly grabbed a second goal for himself.

The goals kept coming , as we went in at halftime 5 to the good having spurned several chances, but also taken some fantastically worked goals.

St Day nearly grabbed a goal, had it not been for a strong right hand from Paramore keeping our clean sheet in tact from quite possibly St Day's only chance of the half.

At half time, we spoke about our attacking style of play and how we should be utilising our strengths as well as a couple of tactical pointers...

The second half began much the same, with our lads having the lion share of possession, creating and scoring almost at will.

With goals from Tjay, Tyler, George, Andy and Harvey , as well a hat-trick completing finish from young Fin the game was done.

A slight lapse in concentration defensively did however gift a St Day striker with a surprise opportunity as he scuffed an effort into the bottom corner destroying our clean sheet in the process.

Ft Result: St Day 1-11 Penzance Reserves

Goal scorers: Fin 3 TJay 2 Kizzy 2 Harvey Tyler Andy George

A top effort all around yesterday saw our Reserves produce some top drawer football, while also getting all 5 subs important minutes on the pitch.

Man of the match yesterday has to go to Fin Sharp, who was everywhere and linked the play superbly in the middle of the park.

Fin took his chances and grabbed his first ever hat trick in senior football, so well done Fin. However, collectively yesterday, the lads were all on it and fully deserved the win.
