SUCCESSFUL FIRST TOURNAMENT OF THE SEASON FOR OUR DISABILITY TEAMS

Penzance’s DisAbility team competed in its first tournament of the new season on Sunday.

In the Championship, the Magpies were very unlucky not to secure maximum points. Only a fine display by their goalkeeper enabled Troon to gain a goalless draw in the opening game. Then a deflected goal with virtually the last kick of the contest secured a 1-1 draw for Dropship in the second match. Finally, Penzance beat St Agnes 4-0 to finish on five points, two behind winners Troon. All five Penzance goals were scored by Connor Thomas.

In the League, fielding two teams this season probably cost the Magpies a chance of securing maximum points. Due to missing players, the sides had to mix and match, weakening both slightly. Troon again took the honours with maximum points ahead of Penzance Stripes on six points and Penzance Whites on three. It was a fine performance by both Magpies sides, and a special mention goes to Coby Wear who scored seven goals, including a double hat-trick against St Agnes, in his first tournament for the club.
