TRURO CITY U-18s TITANS 1, PENZANCE U-18s 7

Penzance remain undefeated all season in their Championship West fixtures after a dominant performance away to Truro City Titans at Boscawen Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Magpies bossed proceedings from the first whistle but took 25 minutes to break the deadlock. After an excellent headed through pass by Rhys Hall. Deshanne Hemmings and Sid Wilson linked up down the right, the latter dinking in an inch perfect cross for Jahmali Prowse to nod home. By the interval Prowse, whose weekend had started with a goal for Cornwall Under-16s against Devon on Friday night, had completed a hat-trick with two further competent finishes.

Freddie Neaum extended the lead shortly after the break before Prowse headed home his fourth, from a deep cross from the left, in the 56th minute. The striker should also have had a fifth shortly afterwards, but scooped a penalty over the cross-bar.

Attacking the cricket ground end, Penzance continued to lay siege to the Truro goal. Wilson crashed a shot against a post before Logan Curnow – pushed in to a more attacking role for the final quarter – scored two himself, and was only denied a hat-trick of his own by the woodwork. Three minutes from time, Max Pethick rolled home a consolation goal for City.

The win leaves Penzance three points ahead of Penryn Athletic who have a game in hand (away to third placed Culdrose on April 27th) and means Airmen are now out of title-contention. Unless Penryn lose that game, the championship will be decided on May 4th when the Magpies, who have a superior goal difference, visit Kernick.
